Dog Grooming Near Farnham & Aldershot

Every dog's coat is different and every dog's personality is different too. That's why we don't believe professional grooming should feel like a production line.
At Short Bark & Sides, our trained grooming team provides professional dog grooming for dogs from Farnham, Aldershot, Tongham, Ash, Mytchett, Farnborough and surrounding areas.
We'll take the time to understand your dog's coat, grooming history and temperament before deciding on the best approach.
The principal service
Full Dog Grooming
Our full grooming appointments include a wash, nail trim, pad and sanitary area care and a complete groom appropriate for your dog's coat, breed and agreed style.
Before we begin, we'll talk to you about the finish you'd like and what's realistically achievable with the condition of your dog's coat.
And yes, we hear “not too short please” quite a lot!
Where the coat allows, we'll always discuss your preferences. If significant matting is present, however, the dog's comfort and welfare have to come first.

Bath & Tidy Appointments
A bath and tidy can be ideal between full grooms or for dogs whose coats don't need a complete haircut.
The appointment includes bathing followed by a tidy around areas such as the feet and pads, with nails attended to where required.
We'll advise whether a bath and tidy or full groom is more appropriate for your dog.
Deshedding
If you're finding dog hair everywhere from the sofa to your favourite jumper, a professional deshedding groom can help remove loose undercoat and keep the coat in better condition.
Deshedding can be particularly useful for double-coated breeds during seasonal coat changes, although the frequency will depend on your individual dog.
Hand Stripping
For suitable wire-coated breeds, we offer hand stripping to help maintain the natural texture and appearance of the coat.
Hand stripping appointments can take around two to two-and-a-half hours depending on the dog and coat condition. We'll assess your dog's coat and discuss whether hand stripping is the appropriate grooming method before proceeding.
Nail Trimming
Nails are checked as part of regular grooming appointments, and standalone nail trims are also available.
Some dogs who are groomed less frequently may need their nails trimmed between appointments. If your dog visits us around every three months, for example, we may recommend booking an additional nail appointment if they're becoming too long.

Ask the TeamGrooming Cockapoos and Other Popular Breeds
Cockapoos are among our most frequent visitors, so our team is very familiar with the challenges their coats can present.
Their beautiful coats can mat surprisingly quickly, particularly around friction areas such as behind the ears, under the legs and where a collar or harness sits. Regular professional grooming combined with effective brushing and combing at home makes an enormous difference.
We're also seeing more Spaniel, Westie and Scottie puppies coming through the salon and enjoy working with a huge variety of breeds, crosses and coat types.
How Long Does a Dog Groom Take?
Appointment times depend on your dog's breed, size, coat and temperament.
As a rough guide, a Cockapoo appointment may take around 90 minutes, while a larger Labradoodle may require approximately two hours. Hand stripping appointments can take around two to two-and-a-half hours.
We don't believe in rushing a dog simply to meet a stopwatch. If they need a little more time, comfort or reassurance, we'll work with them.
How Often Should My Dog Be Groomed?
For many regularly groomed breeds, we recommend approximately six to eight weeks between appointments.
Allowing the coat to grow for significantly longer can increase the likelihood of tangles and matting. A heavily matted coat takes additional time and work to manage and may result in additional grooming charges.
More importantly, keeping to a regular grooming schedule is usually much more comfortable for your dog.
